Poha Cutlet || पोहा कटलेट |
Poha cutlet is a popular Indian snack made from flattened rice flakes (poha) mixed with various vegetables and spices.
Poha cutlet is a delicious and crispy vegetarian snack that is easy to prepare and perfect for tea-time or as an appetizer. It starts with soaking the poha (flattened rice) in water for a few minutes until it becomes soft. The softened poha is then drained and mixed with mashed boiled potatoes, finely chopped onions, green chilies, grated carrots, chopped coriander leaves, and a blend of spices like turmeric powder, red chili powder, garam masala, and salt. This mixture is shaped into small round or oval cutlets.
The cutlets are then shallow fried or deep-fried until they turn golden brown and crispy on the outside . The frying process gives them a crunchy texture while retaining a soft and flavorful interior. Poha cutlets can be served hot with tomato ketchup, mint chutney, or any other dip of your choice . They are often garnished with a sprinkle of chaat masala and served with a side of sliced onions and lemon wedges.
Poha cutlets are not only delicious but also nutritious as they contain a good amount of fiber, vitamins, and minerals from the poha and vegetables used. This snack is a favorite among kids and adults alike and is enjoyed during festivals , parties , or as a quick evening snack.
